A catalyst for postive community action and spirit in Urbandale
WHAT IS THE URBANDALE COMMUNITY ACTION NETWORK (UCAN)
It is a citizen committee providing leadership and ongoing support for comprehensive community-based action to improve the quality of life in Urbandale.
WHY UCAN?
Because YOU, as a citizen or business owner in Urbandale, CAN play an important role in the growth and development of Urbandale.
PRIORITIES
In 2017 Urbandale will celebrate its centennial. How will the Urbandale of 2017 look different from the Urbandale of today? How do we stay a close-knit, caring community? What ties us all together, regardless of geography, age, cultural/ethnic background, school district attendance, etc? The Network will be gathering input on all these areas and more!
HISTORY
The Urbandale Community Action Network (UCAN) is the next generation of the Urbandale Action Council. The Action Council formed in the late 1990s as an outcome of a number of Imagine Urbandale citizen visioning meetings identifying community priorities. The Action Council provided oversight for sub-committees formed to address these priorities: Caring Corps, Character Counts, Community Center, Leadership Urbandale, Beautification, and later, Strengthening Neighborhoods, Diversity and Special Events. The newly formed Urbandale Community Action Network will build upon past successes while looking forward to the celebration of Urbandale’s centennial in 2017.
